BEAT THE HEAT
BEAT THE HEAT
The temperatures are soaring up, and
it’s always a challenge to look stylish, when the body is all the more craving
for that extra comfort and ease. The hurdles it takes to look good on these
humid days can be numerous, from frizzy hair do’s to sweat marks on your
favorite shirts. The secret lies in those tiny efforts we put forward to pick
and plan our outfits.
As always, its universal truth that
cotton is the best bet to keep it cool with loads of comfort factor to backup. But
how different can one look in that wonder fabric, with everyone opting for the
same solution.... how to stand out from the rest of the crowd… and thus my
experimentation began, by opting for the totally Indo-Western silhouette of a printed
breezy strap top and gathered pants, pairing with contrast pink Jhootis and
Bohemian tasseled ear rings. I opted for a complete monochrome combo so much in
trend in runways these days, instead of the bright tropical hues for a change. I
kept the accessory minimal, and opted for the high- bun hair style, for that
non-messy clean and fresh outlook.
The second look is where I combined
a complete white summer day dress with a long Kalamkari printed cape made out
of a Dhuppatta. I teamed it up with an ethnic neckpiece, with hints of metals
happening as bracelets & single anklet. The matching white watch & the contrast
pink tasseled blue sandals completed the ensemble.
I strongly believe personal style is
not about updating your wardrobe with the beginning of every new season, but it’s
something we create on a daily basis when we stand in front of our cupboards,
trying to figure out what exactly to wear on that particular day, while
recalling the checklist of when we wore each piece in the past, which set of
friends were there around and so on, using all our memory powers & planning
strategies. It’s the way we carry out ourselves as effortlessly as possible,
yet looking chic & different.
